Basic Fire Safety - Coaching Course
Course Overview
Intended for delegates who have the responsibility for training their staff in basic fire safety and the practical use of portable fire extinguisher. Ideally the course will be undertaken at the delegates site but can be accommodated at a venue arranged by FireQuest. The instruction is on a one to one basis with both a written and practical examination at the end of the course.
Aims
To ensure the delegate has the necessary teaching skills required to pass on information about basic fire safety. To have an understanding of the relevant sections of the Regulatory Reform Order in relation to fire safety training. To advise the delegate of the alternative presentation methods which can be used in delivering the training.
Learning Objectives
To be aware of the alternative presentation methods of the course. To be fully conversant with basic fire safety policies and procedures. To be able to safely and effectively use the fire training rig as part of a practical demonstration in the use of portable fire extinguishers. To test by way of a questionnaire the information retained by their students. To have an in depth knowledge of the section of the Fire Safety Order with regard to fire training. To be conversant with the guidance documents issued by the Government for all types of building and the sections relative to staff fire training and how they will present this information to their students.
Prerequisites
Have attended a basic fire safety course and some experience in teaching.

Anyone who has the responsibility for training staff in basic fire safety and what to do in the event of a fire.

Course Duration
One day including lunch and assessment
Certification
If successful the delegate will be issued with a certificate of competence which will remain in force for 12 months. This will be renewable by way of an audit at the delegates site which will involve the delegate being observed teaching a basic fire safety course. Support material and assistance will be available as and when required.
