EVENT SAFETY MANAGEMENT OVERVIEW

This service has been designed to assist organisations who are considering using an outside venue for an event. This may involve the requirement to provide a license to hold the event from a local authority. The requirement to provide a license to hold an open air event can be very difficult to obtain. It will involve initially applying for the license once a venue has been selected. Before any license is issued a number of criteria must be complied with. This includes the following:

• A full safety risk assessment of the site to be carried out with a legally compliant report to be produced
• A detailed Emergency evacuation plan with procedures for the Emergency Services
• Approval and support from the local Police
• Approval and support from the Fire Service
• Steward allocation, training and dress
• An emergency responsible person who is competent
• An assessment on water supplies for fire fighting
• Attendance numbers, security procedures and briefings
• Stage allocation safety information and brief
• Access and egress information and assessment
• Contingency planning
• Signage, lighting and crowd control measures
• Communication services between the safety coordinator and safety stewards
