INTRODUCTION TO FIRE RISK ASSESSING
Ideally held at the customers premises, this course is initially of one days duration consisting of theory and a practical assessment at the delegates site. The delegate/s will be given a broad overview of the essential areas to check on a fire risk assessment including a number of formats and an introduction to the Regulatory Reform Order and guidance documents issued by the Government. This course is designed for individuals who will be responsible for carrying out fire risk assessments of familiar buildings within a site. The course is designed for upto a maximum 5 delegates. A further 2 days are available as a seperate module covering technical and British Standards to risk assessing together with further practical assessments and additional details on the guidance documents. A certificate of attendance is issued upon completion.

COMPETENT FIRE RISK ASSESSORS
This course is designed for individuals who wish to carry out fire risk assessments on a wide range of building types, occupancies and who may act as a ‘competent person’ for companies or organisations wishing to have their properties fire risk assessed by an independent party. The time taken to reach an agreed competency level will be dependant upon the existing qualifications and experience of the delegate. The course is modular and can take up to 2 years to complete, with practical vocational training and written assessments during each module.

A certificate of competence will only be issued when all modules have been successfully completed.

The competency licence once issued will be reviewed on a two yearly basis in order for the delegate to remain qualified.

OVERVIEW The one day 'introduction to fire risk assessing' is designed for delegates to have a broad understanding of new Fire Safety Laws, the governments guidance documents on how to carry out fire risk assessments on non sleeping risks and practical application following a pre designed fire risk assessment template.
Competent fire risk assessors training will consist of the initial 3 days as above, with additional modules on all types of sleeping risk buildings. Non sleeping risks such as factories, warehouses, places of assembly, officers, shops, licensed premises, nightclubs, out door events etc will also be covered in seperate modules. Delegates will be required to undertake a range of practical fire risk assessments on a range of building types, which will be closely monitored by an experienced assessor. To become competent a period of up to 2 years will be required dependant on the delegates existing experience.

Other modules during this period will include: building regulations, smoke ventilation, British Standards on fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, portable fire fighting equipment and signs and notices.

The delegate will be required to undertake scheduled technical and practical assessments during the apprenticeship period, with a final examination.
